Application of Betamethasone

Betamethasone is an isomer of dexamethasone. Its action and use are the same as that of dexamethasone acetate. Its sodium and water retention effects and dosage are smaller than the latter. Glucose metabolism and anti-inflammatory effects are 15 times stronger than hydrocortisone, but the sodium retention effect is more than 100 times stronger than hydrocortisone. It can be used together with glucocorticosteroids for substitution treatment in primary adrenal cortical hypofunction. It is also applicable to low renin and aldosterone syndrome and orthostatic hypotension caused by autonomic neuropathy. Because this product is easy to cause edema when taken orally, it is mainly used for external application to treat seborrheic eczema, contact dermatitis, anal, vaginal itching, etc. It is mainly used for allergic and autoimmune inflammatory diseases. Now it is mainly used for active rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus erythematosus, severe bronchial asthma, severe dermatitis, acute leukemia, etc., and also for the comprehensive treatment of some infections.
